Coaching Accomplishments |
In 2007,
a young but talented Stevens High School Girls team came within one game of
their third straight High School Championship game losing in the 82nd minute to
Sioux Falls O'Gorman. The team finished third at the State Tournament and
ended the season with a record of 10-3-3. Three players finished with
First Team All-State honors, more than any other school in the "AA" Division.
Our JV team also went undefeated scoring 62 goals with only 2
goals scored against. During the 2006/2007 Rushmore Soccer Club season, the U14 Girls were the only Rapid City team to win the State Cup and they were one of two teams that advanced to Regionals in Des Moines, IA. Although they lost three extremely close matches, their performance was unbelievable. In addition to State Cup, they also won the REAL tournament in Denver, CO and the Sunbelt Classic in Pueblo, CO. They also placed 2nd in the Midwest Challenge U15 Division. In 2006, the Stevens Raiders advanced to their second straight High School Championship only to lose to SF Lincoln in the 90th minute 3-2. The team went 11-3-2 during the season and outscored their opponents 54 to 11. We also had two players finish with First Team All-State honors, two with Second team, and two with Honorable Mention. In the 2005/2006 club season, the U13 girls were unchallenged and advanced to their first Regional Tournament in Appleton, WI. Although the team lost 3 games at the Regional Tournament, they had a very successful season. The team won the Big Horn Classic and finished second at the USA Cup, REAL Colorado, and Spring Kick-off in Council Bluffs, IA. In 2005, the Stevens High School Girls went 13-1-1 during the season and finished as State Champions in the "AA" division. We had four girls with first team all-state honors and two girls with second team honors (more than any other school in the state). The majority of our seniors have signed letters of intent to continue playing at a collegiate level. In 2004-2005, the Rushmore Soccer Club U12 Girls finished with an impressive 16-2-3 record in tournament play. They won the Dakota Gold Tournament in Sioux Falls and the Rushmore Cup in Rapid City. They placed second in the Gold division at USA Cup and also finished second at the Spring Kick-off in Council Bluffs, IA. In 2004, the Stevens Girls went 10-2-4 and finished 4th in the State Tournament. We place two players first team all-state, two second team, and two with honorable mention. We also won the "Sportsmanship Award" for demonstrating outstanding respect for the game. Most memorable moment: Touring Europe with the U19 "Storm" Boys in 1994. The team competed in the "London Cup" - London, England and the "Haarlem Cup" - Amsterdam, Holland. The Storm won the London Cup to become the first team from South Dakota to win a major overseas tournament. They placed 6th out of 32 teams in Amsterdam, highest of all American teams. |
